Sofia

Sofia is 20 and lives with Karl aged 25. They have been living in England for 2 years since they left Poland. Sofia works as a hairdresser with long days as the salon opens later 2 evenings a week and Saturdays. Karl works in a bar in town, again working long hours as they are both saving money to return to Poland next year. They want to buy a house but at present rent a flat. It is very noisy and they do not get along with their neighbours as when they need to sleep their dogs and children keep them awake. Sofia has just found out she is 8 weeks pregnant and she is very upset as this was unplanned and Karl is very angry with her and has refused to lose any pay today to attend the antenatal “booking” visit and is threatening to leave her. She is clearly very worried about his attitude to her and the baby and she knows only her friends from the salon here in England.
