Carlina is 25 year old and is married to Christofa (30). Carlina is pregnant with her 2nd child- they already have a 3 year old daughter who was born in Poland. Carlina attends an antenatal clinic in the community when she is 8 weeks pregnant.

Carlina remains in good health for the remainder of her pregnancy. She arrives at the local hospital at 40 weeks gestation in advanced labour. She arrives alone as Christofa is at home with their daughter, Sofia.
Carlina births a healthy baby boy by NSVD. Apgar scores are 8:1 minute but the baby then needs active resuscitation as his condition deteriorates rapidly. He is transferred to the NNU.
As the lead professional you ask if you can inform her husband and he arrives within half an hour clearly distressed accompanied by Sofia.
It becomes clear that the baby has a severe cardiac condition and is transferred to a specialist unit later the same day.
